LAMIN B1

Introduction

Nuclear lamins are fibrous proteins providing structural function and transcriptional regulation in the cell nucleus. Nuclear lamins interact with membrane-associated proteins to form the nuclear lamina on the interior of the nuclear envelope. Among the lamins, Lamin B1 tends to be used as a loading control. Lamin B1 is conserved across species. Human Lamin B1 shares 95% identity with rodent homologs, and 36% identity with the fruit fly counterpart. Human Lamin B1 is more than 50% identical to other human lamins. Lamin B1 protein is not suitable as a loading control for samples without nuclear envelope.
